We had a fantastic turnout for our “Lodi Road Trip” Cycling Tour yesterday – even with the threat of harvest showers!
The clouds lingered overhead, but it didn’t worry any of the twelve cyclists who were joining me on a morning ride. We rolled out with dark clouds and rain in the distance with the promise of brunch, wine and more wine when we returned a few hours later.
Thirty-eight miles later…
Did I say 25 miles in the event description? Oops…that is how bragging rights are earned, huh?
We kept our cadence mellow, rolling past vineyards with enough breath to catch up with each other. Many of our crew were Wine Club Members and some from our Active Team so it was great to be able to chat out the bike rather than in the midst of a busy winery event.
When we made it back to the winery, our Press Room bar was stacked full of scrumptious brunch dishes to refill our tanks.
And since I pushed the group a bit on the total mileage for the day (truth in advertising?) I popped the cork on a few very special wines, including our 2008 Single Barrel Tannat and our recently released 2009 Centennial Zinfandel.
Plans are already in the works for next year’s trip!
