The string back to my hometown just can’t be cut – while reading through the Chelsea Standard I noticed an effort by the Senior Center to collect suitcases to benefit children in the foster care system. It never occurred to me either that these kids are moving from house to house with their clothes in garbage bags.
So I made a quick phone call and reconnected with Kay Gordon Heller – we were in Washtenaw County 4-H program together. My attic has now been cleared of all unused suitcases enroute to Michigan.
The town of Chelsea supported me as youngster and even now as our wines are in market back home. So it’s an easy decision to help support them.
If you have an extra suitcase or two in the attic – drop it off to me at the winery. I’ll get it back to Chelsea.
