Picasa’s Face Recognition: Good Enough for Identical Twins

While using Google’s Picasa to browse the piles and piles of pics that we’ve accumulated over the past few years, I tested out their new ‘face recognition’ feature.

Could it really recognize faces based on some crazy Google technology?  Could it differentiate between Brad and Randy, being identical twins?

I was impressed.

Check out the screenshot below – it knows Brad, but waits for me to confirm when it gets to Randy’s picture.  So, Google gets it right, even when people to this day still confuse them in person.  That’s pretty good, don’t you think?

It even picked up on the cardboard cutouts of the Twins! (2nd and 4th pic of Brad)

Brad and Randy’s cutouts are sitting in NWS saleslady Tina’s basement at the moment!
