You travel for work? That’s so much fun!

It’s not the same as traveling on vacation, but it’s always an adventure meeting new restaurant and retail owners, distributor sales representatives, and sometimes the person sitting next to you on the plane. There are times I may be stuck in an airport and the hotel rooms get tiring, but I am a professional packer!

I travel in spurts – when the time is right for the distributor. My most recent trip was to Seattle. Of all the cities I work in, Seattle is one of my favorites. The rain and gray can be tiring, but I’m never there long enough for it to make an impact, and, more importantly, the people I meet overshadow the expected fog and drizzle. This last trip was great! It was sunny the whole time I was working in market, and there were so many neighborhood restaurants and bars I tasted our wines with. It always makes me slightly jealous that we don’t have a few in Lodi. Some cool spots I visited:

  • Portalis Wine Shop and Wine Bar: Yens is friendly and has wonderful wine selection
  • The Dray: Jamie & Travis know everything about beer & soccer, and appreciate wine – it’s totally chill
  • Hills Neighborhood Restaurant: Aaron makes delicious fish tacos!
  • Saltoro: Patti has great wines by the glass and always keeps it fresh
  • Bicks: “Eat the Heat” Next trip I will try something recommended by Dan, that pairs perfectly with our wine

It’s great meeting the new people and visiting fun restaurants, but one of the best parts about Seattle is the end of the day… I don’t have to head to a hotel! I have the pleasure of staying with my cousins Sarah and Jim. Not only do we have dinner together (Sarah is a great chef!), I get to spend quality time with Jack, their 3 ½ year old son. After work we play golf in the backyard, bother their lab Mulligan, and ride bikes in the neighborhood!

See below for a few pictures and please let me know of your favorite Seattle restaurants and I will do my best to visit them next time!
