Crested Butte or bust!
Mandy and I are heading for the hills – in Colorado. We’ll be showcasing LangeTwins wines at the Crested Butte Land Trust Wine & Food Festival in Crested Butte, July 24-26.
The Crested Butte Land Trust works to preserve land in the valley for the community’s value whether it be open space, wetlands, or historic ranches. Through their efforts, 4,000 acres of land in the area has been protected – and able to be enjoyed by the community. Proceeds from the Wine & Food Festival go to support more habitat conservation in the area.
It’s our first time participating with this group of folks, but I have a feeling it’s going to be an awesome event. Wine, food, and mountain biking to support responsible land use? Sign me up.
We’ll arrive Thursday night and try to acclimatize a bit. (elevation of Lodi: 49ft – elevation of Crested Butte: nearly 9,000ft!)
Friday, July 24th is the Evening on Elk Avenue, a new tasting that is hosted downtown among the unique shops and galleries in Crested Butte.
Saturday, July 25th is the Grand Tasting at the luxurious new Lodge at Mountineer Square.
Sunday, July 26th morning holds one the most unique activities that I have been a part of at a wine show – mountain biking! Dubbed “Winemaker Trails“, I’ll be joining up with a group of intermediate/advanced mountain bikers to hit up Snodgrass Trail. If there’s anything left in the tank by the end of the ride, we’ll meet up with Ben Breslauer, Executive Chef at the Club at Crested Butte for a gourmet picnic of small plates paired with our wines.
Our friend, Aaron Combs, who Mom and Dad spent time with during our Texas launch, will be joining us in presenting LangeTwins wines to the Crested Butte area. He’s also provided the motivation (fear?) for me to get training on my bike for next weekend’s ride!
Stay tuned for more on our trip and a big offer for the Wine & Food Festival!
