RESPECTING THE GRAPE AND WINE
Leading the winemaking team, David and Karen use their extensive experience in crafting our family wines.
David Akiyoshi is a second generation winemaker who has been making wine in the Lodi Appellation for over 30 years. He is a true believer in direct wine quality feedback from our viticulture team, barrel aging for enhanced quality and improving techniques while nurturing a respect for both the grape and wine.
This, together with true varietal expression and wine’s natural marriage with food, makes him a pivotal member of our team.
Joining LangeTwins Family Winery and Vineyards in 2008, Karen Birmingham fulfilled her desire to work with quality fruit from the family’s estate vineyards, along with reconnecting with David, an old friend and colleague from Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi.
A graduate of Washington State University with a Bachelor of Science and MS in Food Science, Karen takes a technical approach to winemaking to create wines with balanced acidity and varietal complexity.
